Roundtable discusses supply chain issues

The House Majority Policy Committee recently held a roundtable discussion on the reliability of the supply chain at McLane Co.’s distribution center in Jessup.

Testifiers included McLane employees: Lou Fauerbach, manager of distribution; John Hart, manager of human resources; Dave Kimberly, vice president of distribution; Maria Kocsis, controller; and Monica Maciag, manager of government affairs.

The testifiers discussed how the COVID-19 pandemic caused disruptions in global and national supply chains.

“In the wake of the pandemic, supply chain disruptions dominated the news,” state Rep. Kyle Mullins (D- Lackawanna County) said. “Today, we had a firsthand look at the local operation of a national leader that delivers to nearly every ZIP code in the United States. We also continued the conversation about how the supply chain has improved since the first days of 2020 and the positive effects distribution centers can have on a state or regional economy.”

“McLane plays a vital role in Pennsylvania’s economy, supplying businesses – including retail and restaurants – while also serving an important role in the local and state economy,” House Majority Policy Chairman Ryan Bizzarro (D-Erie County) said. “Local distribution centers provide family-sustaining jobs and employment opportunities.”

McLane employs more than 25,000 people nationwide. The Jessup distribution center is one of more than 80 nationwide.
